Alright this week my pal Krissy (hi Krissy) and I tried a local spot called Braddah's Island Style burritos, bowls and tacos. Open 7 days a week and with three locations, Braddah's is gunna give Chipotle a run for their money. We stopped at the location right across from the Student Union at UNLV. This casual, open little place had sitting inside and out. As you walk in you walk up to the counter, choose between a burrito bowl or tacos, then head down the line and pick out your meats and toppings (the Chipotle doppelgänger). I went with a steak bowl with brown rice, cooked peppers, hot salsa, cheese and lettuce. To be honest, the bowl of food I had was okay. Aside from the steak, which was very well cooked and had a nice sweetness to it, the rest of the ingredients didn't have much flavor or wow me in anyway. The saving grace of this place was their Coconut Bark. Layers of chocolate, coconut, toffee, pretzel and caramel. Sweet and salty and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Even better then the way it tasted? It was free! Get on that 'Ol trusty phone of yours, head to Yelp!, check in at Braddah's, show the coupon to the person at the register and get your free box of bark! (which is priced normally at around $4!). I enjoyed the fact that it was pretty simple to get our food and sit down. The employees seemed to know what they are doing and can do it all at a good pace. I didn't enjoy spending $10 for a few ingredients mixed together in a bowl (granted the steak was the most expensive meat). Over all, I would head back to Braddah's for a quick bite with friends. It is the perfect stop for college kids who want to get some food in-between classes, whether they want to sit and hang out or take it to go. Braddah's is nice little change of pace if you aren't feelin that Café Rio or Canes life.
